Preparing for Intravenous Anesthesia Sedation
To ensure your safety and comfort during your intravenous anesthesia sedation, please follow these guidelines:
- Fasting: Refrain from eating or drinking (including water) for eight hours prior to your scheduled appointment.
- Smoking: Avoid smoking for at least 12 hours before your surgery. Ideally, reducing or stopping smoking as early as possible is highly recommended.
- Accompaniment: A responsible adult must accompany you to our office, remain present during your procedure, and drive you home afterward.
- Post-Anesthesia Restrictions: Do not drive or operate any machinery for 24 hours following your anesthesia.
- Attire: Wear loose-fitting clothing with sleeves that can be easily rolled up past your elbows, and comfortable, low-heeled shoes.
- Personal Items: Remove contact lenses, jewelry, and dentures before your surgery.
- Cosmetics: Please refrain from wearing lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of your procedure.
- Illness: Notify our office if you experience any illness, such as a cold, sore throat, or upset stomach or bowels.
- Medications: If you regularly take oral medications, please consult with Dr. Womack prior to your surgery date for specific instructions.
By adhering to these guidelines, you will help us ensure a smooth and successful procedure. We are committed to your comfort and safety, and we appreciate your cooperation.
