Dr. Womack owes his excellent academic and clinical education to Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. With a Bachelors of Science from the School of Arts and Sciences, Doctorate in Dentistry from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and Residency in Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery, Loma Linda University School of Dentistry/Loma Linda University Medical Center he has great appreciation for his education and experience at those institutions. The residency program in OMS at that time was a small one with one resident per year. The hours were long, hundred-hour weeks were not uncommon but the experience gained under the direction of Dr. Phillip Boyne and Dr. Dale Stringer was tremendous with emphasis on Trauma, Cleft Palate and Craniofacial and Orthognathic surgery. It was a truly hospital based residency.
Following completion of training in 1991 Dr. Womack stayed on as an Assistant Professor and Attending Surgeon for two years while working closely with Dr. Stringer doing orthognathic and TMJ surgery.
In 1993 an opportunity arose in Chico for a position with Dr. Robert Bellin who was fighting a cancer diagnosis. Three months after arriving as a single Dad with two little girls in tow, Dr. Bellin passed away and Dr. Womack stepped off the station platform and on to the moving train. The learning curve was steep and the hours long with Trauma Call at Enloe Medical Center every other day for years.
Assisted by capable staff, Dr. Womack learned the ropes of private practice. One employee, Renee Breeding has been with him for 30 years! Other Team members have been with him for nearly twenty years. They are a great bunch!
Soon after arriving in Chico, Dr. Womack joined the regional Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Team as the team Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. Before long he was the Chair of the Team, a position he held until the team was disbanded along with all the other small regional teams following the housing crash of 2008. However, he still continues to advise and treat local patients who are now part of the Team at UC Davis Medical Center.
Dr. Womack sat for and passed his American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 1993 and has Recertified his Board status every 10 years since.
He is a member of the following professional organizations:
After decades of providing facial trauma care at Enloe, Dr. Womack had enough of late nights and long surgeries and now restricts his practice to Dentoalveolar and Implant surgery in his office as well as outpatient Orthognathic surgery at Skyway Surgery Center and Enloe Health.
After decades providing care for the residents of the North State, Dr. Womack is working less as he has an awesome Associate Surgeon in the practice, Ya-sin A Peaks, MD, DMD.
In his spare time Dr. Womack enjoys spending time with his wonderful wife Tracie, his children and grandchildren, flying and building race Broncos to compete in offroad racing in Baja, California. He's probably one of the few dentists in California who does not golf!
